To be successful in this course, students need every day: D’accord! workbook folder/binder a positive attitude willingness to try *Online Resources students will acquire: beginner reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills while also gaining insight into Francophone culture.

Grading Scale! 20% homework, participation, skits, projects… 80% summative (tests + evaluative materails) retakes/make-up policy

French club will have 2-3 events per semester. Events will be planned by the Leadership Team. Previous activities: ◦ Movie nights ◦ Fund raisers ◦ Cooking classes (at CLS) ◦ French restaurant visits ◦ (travel abroad, not this year)

Encourage the use of French at home! (Make them spell, count, or say the date, time, or identify objects in French!) Encourage use of vocab cards, you can practice together! (Or… there’s an app for that!) Encourage extra practice- see my website!my website Quizlet is a great tool!

The world speaks French! ◦ 2 nd most commonly studied Foreign Language after English ◦ United Nations, European Union, Olympics, Red Cross, NATO, and UNESCO Better understanding of English Language Higher test scores Higher Education ◦ Most universities require at least 2 years of a foreign language ◦ Trend to exempt/test out of language if student has completed 4 years. Marketable in the workforce
