2 Project Outline  2005/2006 Pilot Project Scope: About 200 titles of original cataloging & shelf-ready for single-part monographs Fall 2005 … Started to discuss specifics Winter/Spring 2006 … Tested about 40 records Summer 2006 … Main production with spot check Fall 2006 … Concluded with 241 titles

3 Target profile  New materials purchased through Kinokuniya EXCLUDING: Reference Rush order Folio size Materials by/about single artist (Yale ’ s local practice) Multi-part monographs Serials Non-book English language Materials with matching full/core-level OCLC records  In Yale ’ s case, about 60% has copy in OCLC

4 Original & WINE upgrade  Within OCLC no-hit titles, Original 40% vs WINE upgrade 60% (Yale ’ s case) Specific guidelines for editing WINE records Enhance authorization issue  Using Online Save File

5 Yale’s issues on vendor cataloging Loading records Shipping period Call number labels & other shelf-ready services Authority work  about 70 authority records created by Yale Subject analysis Communication! Coordination!? Complication?? Capital T is for “ Tricky ” : “ Tokyo ” incident

6 Now + Copycat & New Procedures  2007 Project A new project underway including some copy cataloging (LC/Kinokuniya-created records)  ratio of the other members ’ records? ( “ RLIN libraries effect ” ) Try “ email file transfer ” for all records (not using online save file) With or without shelf-ready services?
