A Proposal for a Shuttle Service to Keene Jason Bourque Katy Wilcock Danielle Boxer Steve Clark Emily Bergeron
2
Introduction Franklin Pierce College was founded in 1962 by Frank S. Dipietro FPC is a four year, co-education, liberal arts college. The total student population is 1,574
3
Problem Statement Currently there is no affordable transportation to Keene, NH from the Franklin Pierce College Rindge, NH campus. Students with no transportation are denied the opportunity to take advantage of the entertainment possibilities available in Keene.
4
Problem Statement continued Additionally, there is a safety issue with FPC students who drive into Keene, and have to drive back while under the influence of alcohol. Research is necessary to determine whether or not a shuttle service to and from Keene would be beneficial to FPC Students and their registered guests.
5
Research Objectives Determine how students would be willing to pay for the service. Identify where in Keene students would want to be dropped off/picked up. Identify which year/class of students would be most likely to use the service. Determine what time, and which days, students would prefer the shuttle to run.
6
Methodology First the team did secondary research in order to have a better understanding of college shuttle services. Next we created a problem statement Then, we developed research objectives After that we created a survey that would address our research objectives. Next we handed out our surveys. Finally, we analyzed the data using SPSS and created our results, conclusions, and made recommendations.

Conclusions The shuttle service should run on Friday and Saturday The start time should be 4:00pm and it should run until 1:00am Students would prefer to pay by cash per ride and most would be willing to pay up to $3 A majority of the students would prefer that the shuttle bus stop in the downtown Keene area
21
Recommendations Campus safety implement this shuttle service Use the same shuttle stops that are already in place Have the shuttle run in hourly loops Create posters and fliers to hand out to raise awareness of the program Campus safety could collaborate with other student organizations such as CAB and Student Government It might be most beneficial to promote this service to the senior class
