US Citizen students Present US Citizenship credentials Receive optional logbook endorsement

Foreign Candidates Apply to TSA on-line; coord. with school – Initial Pilot Certificate; – Initial Instrument rating; – Initial Multi-Engine rating. Submit fingerprints when directed by TSA Cat 3 can begin training immediately! Must begin within 180 days of TSA app.

Flight Training Provider Administrators Register school with TSA; coord. with FSDO. ORL POC: Bonnie Norton, x7747 Ensure school’s AFSP compliance Cease training candidate when directed Maintain candidates’ AFSP files 5 years Maintain CFI’s Security Training records for 1 year after CFI leaves.

CFI’s Complete Security Awareness Training – Initial – Annual Optional endorsement for US Citizens Candidate’s Passport, Visa, etc. Determine applicability of TSA Rule: – Initial Pilot Certificate, – Initial Instrument rating, and – Initial Multi-Engine rating Candidate compliance with TSA Rule

Optional Endorsement: US Citizens Industry recommended; one-time only: I certify that (First Middle Last Name) has presented to me his/her US (document) (number), establishing US citizenship in accordance with 49 CFR 1552.3(h). Record IAW 14 CFR 61.189 (5 years) Retain copy of documents presented

Freelance CFI’s If providing flight training to candidates, register with TSA as a Flight Training Provider Administrator Coordinate registration with FSDO – ORL POC: Bonnie Norton: 407-812-7747

DPE’s & ASI’s Verify candidate’s identity as usual – Ltr of Verif’n of Auth. when necess. New procedure! For… – Initial pilot certificate, – Initial Instrument rating, and – Initial Multi-Engine rating… Verify compliance with TSA Rule

Verifying TSA compliance Initial Pilot Cert., Instrmt, and M-E ratings. Optional endorsement: US Citizens E-mails from TSA to school administrator: – TSA’s receipt of fee (currently $130) – TSA’s receipt of fingerprints – Any other messages from TSA as applicable. DPE’s may retain these messages. Do not forward them to FSDO.
