LTS-Philosophy Legacy Traditional School’s belief is that youth sports should be an activity that emphasizes participation in developmentally appropriate physical activity that provides opportunities for the development of sportsmanship, character, and athletic skills. We also believe that the highest potential of youth sports is achieved when coaches, parents, and students actively demonstrate sportsmanship and character. These values and beliefs will promote the best possible athletics experience. Our goal as parents, coaches and students is to strive for “Victory with Honor”.
3
LTS Program Goals To demonstrate “Victory with Honor” to opponents, referees, fans, teammates, and self. For each team/group to perform to the best of its abilities. The goal is to win every competition while demonstrating good sportsmanship. To learn what it means to be part of a team, to be committed to the team, and to support the team in every way. Every LTS student will be invited and encouraged to take part. To teach skills (Physical and Mental) which cannot be taught in the classroom. Participants will learn to play or perform the right way, with emphasis on fundamentals. To give the students a taste of the history of the activity in which they are taking part, and for each coach to pass on his/her love of each activity.
4
Sports Fees Every participant must provide the program with a fee for each activity in which he/she participates. The fee is $35 for the first, second and third sport, with a maximum of $105 per family. Fees for all extracurricular activities will be incurred during the first week of participation of each activity. The Arizona Tax Credit, currently $200 for single or $400 for married couples (2013), can be applied to participation fees as long as it is designated as a tax credit donation at the time the fee is paid.

LTS A/B Team Philosophy If there is enough student interest, LTS will have two teams for each sport using an A/B team philosophy. Students will tryout for the A Team, and there will be a certain number of students that make the team. This team will play to win and not all students will play in every game. Those who do not wish to tryout, and those who do not make the A Team, will be on the B Team. The B Team will allow all students to participate in the games, as long as they are academically eligible and regularly participating with the team. The B Team will allow all participants to play but playing time may not be equal. If there are not enough students to field two teams, the team will follow the no tryouts and no cuts philosophy. All teams, weather A or B, will follow the A Team philosophy (play to win) during the post season playoffs.
