Rise to Power Turner’s ideological successor. Liberal Leadership convention, to choose the leader. (1990) Chretien won. Conflicted. (1990) Martin dismissed and ran for Leader. (2003)

Accomplishments Troubles with the Sponsorship Scandal. Used Gomery Commission to clear the Scandal. Introduced plan for health care. Kelowna Accord. Passed the Civil Marriage Act. (2005)

Accomplishments Large tax cuts, increased support for education and R&D. Wiped $42 billion debt, paid down $36 billion. Red Book, Liberal platform “Manifesto”. (1993)

End of Term Turned down offer for NDP support. Rejected Opposition election schedule. Non-Confidence from Opposition. Trouble in campaign during 2006 election. Lost to Harper in 2006.

Thoughts Overall Ok leader. Able to reduce Canada’s deficit. Co-authored Red Book. Had to deal with scandals left by Chretien. Things weren’t done to the fullest extent.
