How do I know I’m stuck? 6 signals that you are stuck/lost in your rdg. The voice in your head isn’t interacting with the text. The camera in your head shuts off. Your mind begins to wander. You can’t remember what you just read. Questions that you ask while reading can’t be answered. You reencounter a character but can’t remember them.

Why am I getting stuck? What’s causing the 6 signals to happen? The 4 voices: reasons why you are getting stuck Reciting voice - ON ◦ Hearing repeated info only Distracting voice - ON ◦ Hearing things that take you away from the meaning of the text Conversation voice - OFF ◦ Hearing a discussion with the text Interacting voice - OFF ◦ Hearing BK connections, q’s, etc.

How can I fix it? Strategies to “fix- up” confusion in rdg. Make BK connections Make a prediction Stop and think about what you read Ask a q and try to answer it Create a journal Visualize Retell what you’ve read Reread Adjust your Rdg. Rate (slower/faster)
