After losing her family in a plane crash in a dense jungle area in a hidden area of Kaziranga National Park in Assam, India, Greek Goddess, Artemis relocates the infant (Tera) with a secret White Tiger Shape-Shifting streak, and gives her the same powers and abilities as the tigers with additional invisibility and healing talents. She believes that Tera can make a difference in the battle of the Great Bengal Tigers and promote species preservation, conservation and unity of all animals.

INSTRUCTIONS Write a few sentences explaining a contemporary social or political issue that will influence the conflicts your superhero will encounter. If you’d like, add an article describing the issue from a recent news publication. DESCRIPTION OF ISSUE: My heroine, along with her White Tiger Streak (WT’s), when necessary, will face off with the Royal Bengal Tigers (RBT’s) who attempt to take over the jungle and eventually all mankind. They will battle each other over issues of hierarchy of species, jungle conservation, and rights of all people to be treated with respect. True understanding of both the nature of the wild and captive tigers must be met through education and vigilance, or these amazing creatures may no longer exist. They are are a protected species all over the world, but who can protect them from each other? Tera, and the other 11 members of the White Bengal Tiger streak must face off with the Royal Bengal tigers and try to find a way to peacefully co-exist before neither species remains. It is not often that White Bengal tigers can be found in the wild. In the past 100 years, it is estimated that only about 12 have been seen in the wild habitats of India. The wild tigers are almost extinct, and those who are living in captivity are mainly found in zoos.

She will need to use all of her superpowers combined with being able to embrace and understand that in many situations working as a team is more beneficial than being a “lone crusader”.

10. WEEK 2 NOW BRING YOUR SUPERHERO TO LIFE! INSTRUCTIONS It’s time to start putting it all together! After recapping their SUPERPOWERS AND WEAKNESSES, write your character’s ORIGIN STORY. Highlight the SUPERHERO NAME and replace it with your character’s original name. Then, go to Insert > Photo > Picture from file to add an image or digital sketch of your superhero. (Remember this can be something you created by hand or on a program like Heromachine.) K eep in mind this is a project about creativity, not artistic skill, so do your best to share your superhero in an interesting and engaging way. SUPERPOWERS AND WEAKNESSES ORIGIN STORY Powers: Shape-shifting, Invisibility, Healing Limitations: Impulsiveness, Independent Nature Tera was rescued by the goddess, Artemis and became a White Tiger Shape-Shifter after a plane crash in a hidden area of a dense jungle of India. She was the lone survivor of her family. As a member of the hidden and almost extinct White Tiger Streak, she strives for conservation of species, unity of animals, and the ability for all to respect the differences in others and learn to work together. Powers of shape-shifting, invisibility, and healing were given by Artemis. In her human form, she has earned multiple degrees and maintained a 10 th Degree Black belt in Martial Arts. Tera is an award winning author, historian, researcher and lecturer. She works free-lance assignments all over the world promoting animal and human rights. When needed, she is Tigra, White Tiger, protector and avenger. Her fellow White Tigers unite and assist when needed. As Tigra, her costume is a black and white, accented by a silver belt. Her black gloves are designed and reinforced to allow her tiger claws to grow and extend when she is in a partial shift. She carries her fighting sticks on her back, Healing powders and remedies are contained within her tiara, necklace and belt.

11. Tera Arteme WEEK 2 NOW SHARE YOUR SUPERHERO’S ALTER EGO INSTRUCTIONS Highlight the ALTER EGO NAME and replace it with your character’s full name. T hen, tell us what their PERSONALITY is like, what OCCUPATION they pursue, and finally, their BACK STORY. And last, if you want, you can Insert a sketch of your alter ego character. Remember that comic book readers tend to be as interested in a hero’s Alter Ego as they are the Hero and their powers. PERSONALITY TRAITS OCCUPATION Passionate, Dedicated to Human and Animal Rights Author, Researcher, Lecturer BACK STORY A graduate of Yale University with multiple degrees in Environmental Studies, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Greek, Ancient and Modern, Linguistics and Ethics, Politics and Economics, Tera is a passionate and dedicated author, researcher, and lecturer on Animal and Human Rights. Along with her multiple degrees, Tera maintains a 10 th Degree Black belt in Martial Arts.

13. FIND A MYTHIC SOURCE FOR YOUR SUPERVILLAIN INSTRUCTIONS Tapping into the sources you used when finding a Mythic Inspiration for your Superhero, select a god/goddess/monster/etc. to inspire your Supervillain. Write them up as well as a rationale for why you chose them to be the antagonist in your story. Upload an image of your supervillain’s inspiration by selecting Insert > Photo > Select from file and placing the image over the picture icon below (you can delete that if you want or just cover it up. KEY CHARACTERISTICS RATIONALE NAMES: Royale aka Reign Powers and Terror aka Roarke Powers INSPIRATION: Eris, the Greek goddess of chaos, strife and discord. GENDER: Female and Male Twins NATIONALITY: Considers themselves to be Multi-National PERSONALITY TRAITS: Elitist, encourages chaos, discord, and elitist principles. Considers Tera Arteme aka Tigra as their arch enemy. The Goddess Eris, bestowed her favor on the twins and assists in creating the chaos and discord as diversionary tactics. Royale believes that the Bengal Tiger, most commonly known as the Royal Tiger is superior, and must eliminate species that do not meet the standards of the Royals, be they human or animal. Often works side by side with her twin, Roarke. Both are Royal Bengal Tiger Shifters, endowed with the magnified powers and strength of the tiger. Royale also has enchanted arrows and Terror has a Sonic Roar. They have attended classes with Tera (Tigra) and oppose everything she believes in. They want to eliminate the White Tigers and cause as much chaos as possible!

14. Reign and Roarke Powers aka Royale and Terror NOW BRING YOUR SUPERVILLAIN TO LIFE INSTRUCTIONS First, replace “SUPERVILLAIN NAME” with their original name and then, keeping their mythic source in mind, write up their superpowers and weaknesses (Remember 2 each maximum). After that, share their origin story, really giving us a sense of who they are and why they do what they do. Then, if you chose to, go to Insert > Photo > Picture from file to add the digital sketch of your supervillain. If you decide not to, just delete the placeholder graphics. SUPERPOWERS AND WEAKNESSES Powers: Shape-shifters, Master Manipulators, Enchanted Arrows (Royale), Sonic Roar (Terror) Weaknesses: Impulsive, aggressive personalities make it difficult for them to work with anyone, even their own Royal Tiger Shift. ORIGIN STORY Reign and Roarke were brought to the attention of Eris, Goddess of Chaos, Strife, and Discord by her minions who believed they would be an asset to their Goddess. Eris became their mentor, as well as a protagonist, and eager participant in their escapades to promote elitism and destroy the White Tigers. Members of one of the original Shape Shifter Royal Bengal Tiger streaks, and elitists to the extreme, the twins will not hesitate to eradicate humans and animals that do not meet their expectations. Eliminating the number one thorn in their side (Tigra) and the White Tiger streak becomes their number one priority!

16. NOW TELL US A STORY INSTRUCTIONS Now pull things together and come up with the story for a comic book featuring your Superhero and Supervillain. You can chose any place in their history to set this story, e.g. the first time they come into conflict, a ‘high point’ in their overall story arc (rescuing their beloved from the foul clutches of their dastardly foe, foiling their master plan to take over the world, etc.) or whatever else strikes your fancy. Remember, this project is all about creativity so have fun with it. BUILD UPCONFLICTRESOLUTION Tera often had classes at Yale with Reign and Trevor and took opposing sides in political debates on Human and Animal rights. A challenge was issued to return to the hidden area of Kaziranga National Park in Assam, India and see who could meet the ultimate Jungle Challenge. Can Tera bring peace and cooperation between these two groups or will an entire group be eliminated from the face of our planet? What role, if any, does mankind plan in this battle? Can co-existence and peace actually be attainable, or would there be a never ending battle of the Elitists against the world? Will the two streaks work within their groups together, or will the battle only be Tigra against Royale and Terror? Who sets up and judges the Jungle Challenge? Who are the “Tiger Paws” and what role do they play in this conflict? Some answers will be revealed and others, well…stay tuned. The WT’s (White Tigers) band together as do the RT’s (Royal Tigers). Both complete the Jungle Challenge with identical scores (albeit by different methods). No current final resolution, but a surprise interloper stirs things up, and not always in a good way. Tigra is determined to continue to explore ways to co-exist and stop the conflicts.

17. NOW FOCUS ON A SINGLE SCENE INSTRUCTIONS Pick a dramatic scene from the story you’ve created and expand on it in the space provided below. Describe where it’s taking place under “SCENE SETTING” and then replace the headings in bold with the names of your characters as you write the dialogue for the scene. If you want your scene to begin with the Supervillian you may do so. You do not need to draw anything for this activity (that will come in Week 5!).
