ESSIP Plan 2013 / Objective COM093 Explanation A replacement of X.25 for networks with a common standard at European level is needed due to the diminishing support by the industry for this protocol. Regulation (EC) No 633/2007 on the application of a common FMTP implies de facto that IPv6 is the new standard for data networks or services. IPv4 is accepted as a transition to IPv6. Closely linked to the PENS project. All ECAC states should migrate their international or regional data services to IPv6 by the full operational capability date. The objective is an enabler for objective ITY-FMTP. Deployment date: end 2014 Applicable to All ECAC States

ESSIP Plan 2013 / Objective COM095 Link to European ATM Master Plan [CTE-C11a]-PENS: Set up of a first interconnection of existing IP national data transport networks deployed by various ANSPs. [CTE-C11b]- Gateway to interconnect the Stakeholder's Networks (ANSP/PENS, Airport, Airspace Users) [Ground IP Network]: A European IP based data transport network is deployed for ground/ground communications. This network is the main element of the communication infrastructure supporting all the Ground/Ground and Air/Ground communications. This network will interconnect the ATM Stakeholders (ANSP, Airport, Airspace Users, Network Manager) through gateways.

ESSIP Plan 2013 / Objective COM096 Most important SLoA(s) COM09-ASP01 Migrate international or regional X.25 data networking facilities and/or services to IP (Covers the transitional migration to IPv4, where applicable) COM09-ASP03 Migrate international or regional X.25 data networking facilities and/or services to IPv6 (Covers the migration to IPv6, either directly from X.25 or from IPv4)
7
ESSIP Plan 2013 / Objective COM097 Finalisation Criteria and Closed Questions COM09-ASP01 Migrate international or regional X.25 data networking facilities and/or services to IP Finalisation Criteria (wrong in the published version of the ESSIP Plan 2013 – corrected in the ESSIP Database end September) should read: International and regional ATM applications stipulated to make use of IP networks are in operation under IPv4. COM09-ASP03 Migrate international or regional X.25 data networking facilities and/or services to IPv6 Finalisation Criteria: International and regional ATM applications stipulated to make use of IPv6 networks are in operation under IPv6. No additional closed questions for these SLoAs

ESSIP Plan 2013 / Objective COM0910 Objective Coordinators Analysis, recommendations, tips & tricks Ensure information is consistent with ITY-FMTP Make sure it is clear whether there is a plan to migrate to IPv4 as a transition to IPv6 and specify plans and dates for both, where applicable Pan-European Network Services (PENS) implementation can facilitate the implementation
