5 Recent improvements Preston tunnel Fleetwood storage under construction 15,000m3 storage tank to be commissioned before the 2015 season which will add to the 30,000m3 already at Fleetwood 40,000m3 tunnel commissioned before the 2014 season to significantly reduce spills from the Preston area

6 Our plans for the next 5 years UU’s 2015-20 business plan is now agreed with OFWAT Our Transitional Investment Programme has allowed us to make a good start on bathing water schemes ahead of the new Asset Management Plan starting in April 2015.

7 Fylde Coast Over £100m to be invested to bring about improvements to the Fylde’s 8 bathing waters Key improvements on the Fylde coast include Replacement of Harrowside outfall with a longer pipe during 2015 (subject to final permission from MMO) By summer 2016 – 12,000m3 storage will be built and commissioned in Anchorsholme Park By 2018 approx 4,000m3 additional storage to be built at Lennox Gate Pumping Station By 2018 surface water separation in Blackpool South area By 2019 Anchorsholme outfall will be replaced with a longer outfall and a new pumping station will be required. Improvements also planned for Preston Storm Tanks and Chorley Storm Tanks

9 Real time spill warning system Upgrading for 2015 Blackpool North Blackpool Central Bispham Cleveleys New for 2015 West Kirby Meols Moreton Ainsdale Fleetwood Existing Morecambe North St Bees Allonby Allonby South Walney Biggar Bank Walney Sandy Gap Walney West Shore Summary 18 of the 31 bathing waters in the North West will be on the system for 2015 All bathing waters predicted to be poor will be on the real time warning system for 2015 apart from Haverigg and Silloth which have lower usage No UU assets Formby Silecroft

10 During 2015 we will deliver a £4m programme to build coastal models for the North West region Next steps Implement appropriate Operational and Maintenance regimes on key sites e.g. criticality and pre-season asset checks Inform our approach to provision of real time spill information Identify the assets that would need to be reported under the regulations in the event of an incident. Ensure that spill information is provided for the appropriate assets following a bathing water or shellfish bed sample failure. Identify whether further work is required on UU assets beyond 2020 to move towards Excellent Coastal modelling programme

12 £1.9m project to support agricultural interventions in the Ribble and Wyre estuaries Partnership approach with Rivers Trusts, NFU, EA, Catchment Sensitive Farming, Natural England. Local authorities will also be engaged in this.
