SAVANNAH ADVENTURE Lakeside Middle School 8th grade 2014 Monday – Wednesday, May 19-21, 2014

In your packet is a draft of the itinerary; please note that it is subject to change. Students need to arrive at the Lakeside gym at 5:45 a.m. on Monday, May 19. Our departure time is 6:45 a.m.; we cannot wait for late arrivals. We should arrive back at the Lakeside gym by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21. The arrival time is an approximation and may change; as we get closer to home, your child will call!

The total cost of the trip is $330.00. This includes a T-shirt and a class picture. Payment schedule: ◦ $130 due Tuesday, November 5, 2013, along with the signed behavior contract. (Payment will not be accepted without the contract!) ◦ $100 due February 21, 2014. ◦ $100 due March 21, 2014. The initial payment reserves your student’s place on the trip. However, if the final payment is not made by April 11, your student may lose his/her place.

Any 8 th grader who incurs the following infractions will NOT be eligible to attend: four days of ISS during the school year. any discipline infraction that results in OSS during the school year. Failure of two or more classes. ◦ We perform a grade check on April 18, and any student failing two or more subjects will be given until May 2, to complete the necessary recovery work for grade improvement. A final determination will be made on May 9, 2014. If a student loses his/her place on the trip, the $130 deposit will not be refunded.

Teacher chaperones are assigned at approx 1:12 or 1:16 teacher/ student ratio; Chartered coach busses are scheduled; Mrs. Bradford, an administrator, will attend the trip; Mrs. Kelly, our nurse, also attends the trip; Students are 4 to a room (their selection); there are no teachers in student rooms; each room has two double beds. Girls and boys are on separate busses and in separate hotels. Two police officers per hotel are on duty all night. Doors are taped at the end of the evening.

Any medications needed on the trip need to be sent from home. No medications are taken from the clinic. Also, if the student has a medical condition such as asthma, food allergy, insect allergy, diabetes, or seizures the school needs a current care plan on file if one has not been brought in for this school year.
