1 Common Core

2  Find your group assignment.  As a group, read over the descriptors for mastery of this standard. (The writing standards apply to more than one type of writing. Thus “narrative writing” will use some of the same standards that “argument writing” will use.) Take note of the specific language that these descriptors use.  Discuss what you think this “looks like” in a real classroom experience for real Granger network students.  Read through the grade bands for these standards.  What skills need scaffolding?  What differentiates each grade level?  Referring to the in-and-out goals we wrote last year, discuss the foundation that Granger network teachers have already created. What skills will need to be added? What do we need to reinforce?  Referring to the graduation goals we wrote last year, discuss the desired outcomes for student learning across the network.  Outline the network plan for this standard.  What do teachers in this network need to know about teaching this standard?  What activities/assessments can we use for our students to demonstrate mastery of these standards?  Are there rubrics? standardized tests? formative or summative assessments we can use in class?  Prepare a slide presentation that will teach others in the network and will help them guide their own curriculum and instructional design.  Save the slide show with your group’s name.  Choose a presenter to teach us all about this standard.
