College Entrance Examinations Every College will accept either test. ACT – given to entire class last Spring Scores need to be sent directly to colleges. www.actstudent.org SAT – typically colleges on either coast. www.collegeboard.org

How Many Applications? General Guideline: 3-5 (including a safety plan: a college that your child is sure to be admitted and can afford)

Having a Transcript Sent to a College Go into the “Colleges” tab in Naviance. Go to the section called “colleges I’m applying to”. If requesting a dean letter of recommendation, complete the FERPA section. Click on the “add to this list” tab and lookup your colleges. Go back to the “colleges I’m applying to” tab and click on the “request transcripts” tab. Add the same colleges you listed under the “add to this list” tab. After completing the above steps, complete the transcript request form available in the Student Services Office and turn it in to Ms. Coffman. Your transcripts will not be sent without this step. Pay any necessary transcript fees. Your first three transcripts are free, and all others are $3 each.

Obtaining a Dean Letter Go to the “About me” tab. Under “Interesting things about me”, click on “resume”. Create your resume. The more detail you give, the more information can be added to your dean letter.

Mounds View electronically provides Official Transcript – academic records & senior class schedule Mounds View Counselor Form – which is used in lieu of the Common Application Secondary School Report or specific college Counselor Forms Dean Recommendation – letters of recommendation
