OTES is the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System completed by your administrator each year of employment. RE is an Ohio requirement consisting of 4 years of residency for all newly licensed teachers in order to advance to a 5 year license. OTES and RE are Ohio legal mandates. These are nonnegotiable requirements. OTES and RE documents are not interchangeable. RE documents CANNOT be used for evaluative purposes.

When do I get started? How long will it take for me to complete the RESA? How can I prepare? What happens if I don’t pass? If I pass RESA, can I apply for my license? Does it cost to take the RESA? How will I know how to complete each task? Where and when do I submit tasks? When will I get my results? How many meeting will we have?

A collegial relationship that encourages reflective practice and provides support when presented with a challenge, or when contradictions arise between what you say and do, or to help maintain focus on implementing changes that will have an effect of student and professional growth “Critical” signifies important, crucial, or Necessary It does NOT imply passing judgment

1. Present an issue/concern that comes from moments of work without closure, issues that go unresolved through solitary thinking 2. Critical friend listens and ask clarifying questions to fully understand the focus 3. The friend presenting their issue communicates agenda or goals for the meeting (ex- I would like a few strategies to improve Student A’s behavior during direct instruction) 4. The critical friend provides honest feedback in a non- threatening manner, without judgment, helping him/her to approach the situation from a different perspective 5. Both reflect on meeting, test the ideas, and debrief.

Advocate for the success of a Friend’s work Ask provocative questions that trigger HOT and a fresh perspective. Listen carefully, takes time to fully understand by asking clarifying questions Remain open-minded and free from judgment Provide supportive responses to promote risk taking
