8 What’s New Helpful Hints Creating Test Sessions Views – Student/Proctor Roles & Responsibilities AGENDA Practice on Your Own Accommodations/Tests Let’s Debrief

9 MAP Roles & Responsibilities

10 MAP Roles & Responsibilities

What’s New to MAP? Students now have 28 calendar days to finish a suspended test – It is no longer possible to resume tests that have been suspended for more than 28 days (students will not have access to complete their tests) – 14 days is still the recommended maximum between testing, because too many days of instruction between testing have the potential to influence the score When preparing for make-up testing, you can now see the [Test Event Start Date] – The testing date appears in the search results – You can prioritize make-up testing for students nearing the time limit Students have an improved calculator – The onscreen calculator now has a backspace key and a +/- button (http://warmup.nwea.org/calc/app/index.html#/calculator)http://warmup.nwea.org/calc/app/index.html#/calculator Students can reset a question – A new [Reset] button at the bottom of the test enables students to reload the question – Reset is useful when a student wants to clear the choices made and start over Students can attempt resume after a connection problem – In the event of an internet failure or other technical issue, a new message appears on the student’s computer with a button to try and resume testing – If successful, and the student was in the middle of a question, then the same question should resume – Or, if the student had just finished a question, then the next question should appear 11

MAP Helpful Hints All teachers that have students rostered to them have been uploaded into MAP as ‘Instructors’ – Teachers must login to their accounts in order to view reports – Teachers will be able to pull their class reports in MAP You can only assign one test per student at a time – Students can take more than one test per testing session as long as the first test has been completed Proctors can only login to one testing session at a time Write Testing Session Name and Password on the board for all students to see – Students do not need to know the progress of their peers projected on the screen. Deleting testing sessions does not delete student results – Testing sessions control the testing and does not store/hold test responses Students can only take one test per subject per assigned testing window – Only one opportunity to make a score – DO NOT TERMINATE STUDENTS’ TESTS – R&E will make the final decision if a student can retake a test Shortcuts to refresh student screens – iPad/Chromebook: Post the “NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES” Sign 12

MAP Training at Site Let’s take a look… MAP Website: https://teach.mapnwea.orghttps://teach.mapnwea.org – Video Tutorials: Proctor Quick Start (9 mins) Proctor Tools (13 mins) R&E Website: http://www.sausd.us/Page/27291http://www.sausd.us/Page/27291 Destination PD: https://destinationpd.nwea.orghttps://destinationpd.nwea.org NWEA Website: https://nwea.orghttps://nwea.org 13

3 Steps for Testing Students 1.Pick group of students to test by creating a testing session – Testing session controls which students to test, which tests they will take, and the testing experience 2.Students sign in through the NWEA Secure Browser 3.Supervise students on the proctor computer 14 Have students utilize the before they test

Creating Testing Sessions Once you log in, select ‘Manage Test Sessions’ Select ‘Find Students to Test’, ‘Test My Class’, or ‘Saved Testing Sessions’ – Find Students to Test: allows you to create testing sessions for students that are not rostered to you – Test My Class: allows you to create testing sessions for students that are rostered to you; a session name will already be generated by MAP (if you want to change the session name, and change the session name before you – Saved Testing Sessions: allows you to find the session(s) that you created as well as anyone in the district provided that it was saved Find Students to Test – Search for students by using the drop down menus under the ‘Student Search’ tab and/or – Enter the student name to find one student and/or enter the Student ID – Select – Once you have your list, select – You can always add more students to this list, by going back to the ‘Student Search’ Follow the steps above to add more students 15

Creating Testing Sessions Select or – Test Now: allows you to test the students now – Save Session: allows you to save the session for a later time If you select ‘Save Session’, you will need to name your Testing Session – Use this configuration to NAME your Testing Session: Initial of Test (R=Reading, M=Math, L=Language) Proctor Last Name Testing Window: Fall For example: – RHammerFall is the name of my Testing Session for Reading – Remember that your students will need to type the Testing Session when they log in – Once you name your session, select – You will be able to view your Testing Session under the Saved Testing Sessions in Manage Testing Sessions If you would like to view other testing sessions created by other Proctors, clear the name in the created by column. You can leave it blank (select ‘All Proctors’) or type in a specific name You will then be able to view all Saved Testing Sessions throughout the district Any Proctor can view and use any Saved Testing Session 16

Helpful Tips If a student cannot find his/her name on the drop-down menu, – Have the student log out, so that they are at the blank sign in screen – Look on your screen to see his/her status: If status says "confirmed", click in the box next to the student's name, use the drop-down menu under "select action" (2nd column at the top) choose "do not confirm“ This should allow the student sign in If status says "testing," click in the box next to the student's name, use the drop-down menu under "select action" (2nd column at the top) choose "suspend" once you have done this, click box next to same student name, use the drop-down menu under "select action" (2nd column at the top) choose "test again" This should allow the student sign in 25

Saved Testing Sessions Accessing Saved Testing Sessions – From Manage Testing Sessions, select ‘Saved Testing Session’ to find the testing session that you saved – Select – Students’ status will show as ‘Awaiting Student’ regardless if their test was previously suspended This is normal and indicates that MAP is ready for students to sign in – Select – You will need to confirm the student(s) by selecting 26

Now it is your time to create your own testing sessions 27 Time to Practice

Assigning Accommodations – Select the box next to the student that you want to assign accommodations This process must be done student-by- student – Select – Highlight the accommodation(s) that the student needs – Select – Accommodations Column will now reflect ‘Yes’ 28 Please note: -These are not embedded -Usage forms do not need to be submitted to R&E -Accommodations are based on test sessions, not students (this process must be repeated if students are in a different test session) In regards to Accommodations – Case Carriers, please remain seated.
