Specifics 23 events Saturday March 5, 2016 at UCI Students will be competing in groups of 2. Students should sign-up by choosing an initial direction Only15 students allowed on the final team.

PERFORMANCE EVENTS

Write it do it One student will write a description of an object and how to build it, and then the other student will attempt to construct the object from this description.

Experimental Design Students will design, conduct, and report the findings of an experiment

Crime Busters Students will be given a scenario, a collection of evidence and possible suspects and they will use that information to perform a series of tests in order to solve a crime.

Picture This ● Team members will take turns drawing pictures of scientific terms/ concepts, while other team members guess the term being drawn. ● Teams of up to 3.

Bioprocess Lab This is a lab oriented competition. Students will show their understanding and skills involving Science processes.

Road Scholar - Being able to draw and read maps. Students will be given directions and they need to find a location using maps. ● Highway and quadrangle maps may be from one or more states ● The event may be presented in a storyline format ● May be asked to draw features located within a square section on answer sheet using correct features from Testing Area (presented in next few slides) ● Participants may be asked to draw a topographic map profile that will be included on the answer sheet.

Study Events These events require studying and practicing tests. We do well when students study and we don’t do well when they don’t.

Disease Detectives Study Event - Students will used their investigative skills to find out environmental causes of diseases - focus population growth.

Reach For The Stars Study Event – Students will demonstrate an understanding and basic knowledge of star forming regions, supernova remnants, and the Electromagnetic Spectrum.
