17
Dredge Main River System Back to Future Projects Initial dredging will be started from the proposed barge terminal to the nearest city. We would connect the largest cities to run the barge traffic and it should be accessible all year round. Dredging the river will allow the collected materials to be used for profitable gain such as building up low areas.
18
Construction of Twin Power Plants Back to Future Projects We have proposed the construction of two separate 460 megawatt power plants to be placed in close proximity to the refineries (within 1-2 kilometers). With news reports stating that Bamako is the fastest growing city in Africa (sixth fastest in the world) the ever increasing strain on the existing power grid warrants construction of at least two power plants. The proposed military barracks/compound would serve as protection for one of Mali’s most important national assets.
19
Construction of Two Oil Refineries Back to Future Projects Construction of two oil refineries which can handle 50,000 to 60,000 bbls per day is recommended, as this sized model has been found to be the most efficient sized refinery. The refineries should be located 4 to 5 kilometers apart and adjacent to two separate storage facilities (as addressed in the pipeline section of this presentation). The oil refineries will be in the same secured area which is protected by the military compound.
20
Pipeline System Back to Future Projects A complete pipeline system will have to be engineered based upon the location of the following: 1. Location of the Oil Fields 2. Terrain 3. Distance to the Proposed Barge Terminal 4. Distance to the Secondary Terminal Point 5. Connections to the Storage Fields and Refineries
21
River Barge Terminal Back to Future Projects Upon selection of this facility in conjunction with the pipeline and dredging this facility should be able to handle between eight and twelve barges daily. The barge terminal would be used to ship finished product from the refineries and oil fields. The barge terminal facility would be used to import needed supplies and material for the oil refineries, pipelines, oil fields, and power plants. In general, the barge terminal would be a major support unit for all other projects.
22
Island Resort/Casino Back to Future Projects A multi-use hotel/casino resort which will be accessible from the mainland only via bridge. Semi-private and private privileges. Will accommodate daily, weekly, or longer stays.
23
Expansion/Renovation of Bamako Airport Back to Future Projects Expansion will provide easier boarding and un-boarding of passengers. More effective use of the baggage claim. Additional airline traffic. Additional storage facilities. These added amenities will also increase revenues for Bamako.
