Environmental Science is the study of how the natural world works, how the environment affects humans, and how humans affect the environment.

Bellringer: Think back to Biology… which photo is the best representation of an ecosystem? Describe why. Utilize your science vocabulary and be as specific as possible… Objective: SWBAT concisely articulate his/her viewpoint on animal research ethics..

Philosophical Chairs Rules: 1.Do not raise you hand… just wait for the speaker to stop (do not speak over another student). 2.Opposite stance speaks next (rotation). 3.Same person may not speak twice in a row for their side (two others must go first). Mediator will point to next participant. 4.Summarize what the speaker just said and THEN state your point. 5.Keep an open mind. You may change sides if your view shifts. 6.You may take notes of key points during this activity. Pro Stance Anti- Stance Undecided

During the next 5 minutes on the back-side of your article: 1.Clearly record the controversial statement. 2.Write (one sentence) “I support this topic”, “I do not support this”, or “I am undecided”. 3.Using bullet points, select three statements from the text that act as evidence to back you stance (or if undecided…. the ones that conflict and leave you with mixed emotion).
