2 4/4/2014 SYED A RIZVI 2 ACADEMIC CONTEXT  Goals describe what our students are expected to accomplish when they complete a course or a program (course or program level goals).  Students are prepared to achieve the program goals through the coursework in the program.  Course-level goals (course objectives) are generally more specific than program goals.

3 4/4/2014 SYED A RIZVI 3  A program goal is assessed through the assessment of the course objectives linked to that program goal.  Linkage between course objectives (course-level goals) and program goals can also be shown in the curriculum map. Or it can be separately listed along with the curriculum map. ACADEMIC CONTEXT (CONTINUED)  The linkage between program goals and the courses in that program is shown through curriculum map.

4 4/4/2014 SYED A RIZVI 4  If you have assessed course objectives (course- level assessment), you have, in essence, already done the bulk of the program-level assessment.  The only thing left is to link the course-level assessment results to the appropriate program goals and report the results in a form appropriate for program-level assessment.
