1. Introduction : Asbestosis is a lung disease associated with one's exposure to a useful, heat retardant product, made from fibrous material, that can be separated into fine fibers, called asbestos. Asbestos, though useful, poses serious medical risks to anyone exposed to it. The body tries to neutralize these fibres in various ways, and this process leads to further inflammation and cell damage. Individuals suffering from asbestosis are five times more likely to develop lung tumors/cancer, as afibrosis or scar tissue develops in the area around the small airways and air sacs. The thickening and scarring prevents oxygen and carbon dioxide from travelling between the air sacs and the blood cells, thus breathing becomes less efficient. Demograph: 100 construction workers in Singapore, working with Asbestos materials, from 25 – 50 years old. The longer the amount of time spend using Asbestosis means a higher probability of getting Asbestosis, which is harmful to the body. However, most construction workers are unaware of the dangers of Asbestos, when handling them. This research confirmed that the issue of asbestosis is relevant in Singapore.
