What can you observe about the flower? What can you infer (guess)? Do you think the flower is male, female, neither, or both? Why do you think the plant made this flower? What do you think? Reg.

Number paragraphs Circle key words Underline/highlight important information Think: Are flowers male, female, neither, or both? How do plants make more plants? How is plant reproduction similar to human reproduction? What is self-pollination? What is cross-pollination? How are self-pollination & cross-pollination different? Pollination Reading Reg.

On a whiteboard, draw 4 flowers (like on pg. 29). With a partner, label: Male parts Female parts With your partner, show: -a pollinator -a flower self-pollinating -flowers cross-pollinating Then, I’ll check your whiteboard to tell you if it is correct. If it is correct, copy it on pg. 29. Whiteboard Reg.

Show that you understand what pollination is for & the difference between self-pollination and cross-pollination. Design 2 t-shirts: 1 for self-pollination, 1 for cross-pollination. It can be a t-shirt with a slogan, a picture, or both. Write a sentence under each to explain why you drew it the way you drew it. The sentences should prove to me that you understand the information. Left Side (pg. 28) Reg.

Pretend you have a plant with many white flowers and a plant with many purple flowers. You want to get the plants to self-pollinate and cross-pollinate. You’re wondering what the plants’ offspring will look like, in the different situations. Describe HOW you would get the plants to self-pollinate and cross-pollinate. BE DETAILED ABOUT YOUR METHODS. Predict what the offspring of the different types of pollination would look like. EXPLAIN YOUR REASONING. Add at least 1 picture to illustrate your experiment or your predictions. Left Side (pg. 28) Honors
