6.  I am plan to work with children with developmental delays.  Developmental delays include but are not limited to:  SPEECH DELAYS  COGNITIVE DELAYS  BEHAVIORAL ISSUES  SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL DELAYS  FINE AND GROSS MOTOR DELAYS  GLOBAL DELAY  I would love to work with Autistic children in particular. In fact, I recently received a job offer to work as a Behavior Analyst and practice ABA Therapy. ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis, which is therapy and intervention used for children with Autism. 11. Children with Autism are behind their equal age peers in terms of child development milestones. Here are examples of milestones that a typically developing child should have by the age of two. Walks alone Carries big object or several objects while walking Starts to run Walks up and down stairs with support Is aware of and recognizes familiar people, objects, and body parts Builds tower of four blocks or more

DISCRETE TRIAL TRAINING (USING POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT) PIVOTAL RESPONSE THEORY (USES STRATEGIES SUCH AS PROVIDING DETAILED INSTRCUTIONS AND ASKING CLEAR QUESTIONS) RECIPROCAL IMITATION TRAINING (TEACHES IMITATION SKILLS) SELF-MANAGEMENT TRAINING (HELPS CHILD MONITIOR THEIR OWN BEHAVIOR WITHOUT AN ADULT PRESENT) VIDEO MODELING (SHOWS REPEATED PRESENTATIONS OF DESIRED BEHAVIORS) This child seems to be enjoying his ABA Therapy session

13.  I am passionate about working with children and helping them reach their fullest potential. I have acquired a great deal of knowledge about child development within the past few years through majoring in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Houston. My goal as an early childhood professional is to be a part of building stronger family support systems by not only working with children, but also educating families about different ways to help their children grow.

14. Early Years are the most critical time for the development in a child’s life. I like to compare the first few years of life to laying the foundation for a home. I am a firm believer that each child has their own unique gifts and talents, learning styles and preferences and I am committed to investing in the realization of their individual potential. I would love to help children become enthusiastic problem-solvers and life- long learners. Children learn best through exploration of the world around them. As an early childhood professional, I would be dedicated to introducing new topics and ideas and helping the children to experiment and explore those ideas.
