Mid-term Examination (10%) – Monday, 20 October in class Final Examination (25%) – during official examination period, between December 4 th and 18 th, 2014 NOTE: You MUST be available to sit the final examination during the official examination period. Do not book flights home until the official examination timetable has been published and you know when your examinations are!

You will all be given a number by an instructor. Move to where the sign with your number is posted. Introduce yourself to the students you find there.

On your poster board write down all the ways you know how to say “Hello!” in English. The group with the highest number of ways to say “Hello!” wins the prize!

How do you know which way of saying “Hello!” you should choose?

CONTEXT: o What time of day is it? “Good morning!” only in the mornings. o What kind of occasion is it? “Hey!” only at a casual social occasion. AUDIENCE: o How well do you know the person? o Are they in a position of authority over you? – e.g. boss, older, professor, etc…
