Discuss the structures of the reproductive system influence the human body’s ability to reproduce and maintain homeostasis 4/30 Objective
7
What is the Reproductive System? A combination of body structures and organs that allow humans to make babies.

Swimming for your life A sperm is a tiny package with a big responsibility – Key Point #3: sperm fertilize the egg and create human life It takes ONE sperm to fertilize an egg So that tiny package is loaded with “gear” for its important journey. How many sperm does it take to fertilize an egg? A few facts: Daily sperm production by a healthy man: 10 million to 50 million Contents of average ejaculation: 200 million sperm; 120 million moving; 80 million deformed Maturation: 72 days Survival time in a woman: 2 to 7 days

15
Male Reproductive System – Prostate gland 4.Prostate gland -4.Prostate gland - makes semen that help sperm movemakes semen that help sperm move
16
Male Reproductive System – Urethra 5. Urethra -Connects bladder AND the vas deferens to the penis - carries urine OR sperm
17
Male Reproductive System – Penis 6. Penis Organ with muscleOrgan with muscle Pushes urine OR semen out of bodyPushes urine OR semen out of body
18
What is a vasectomy? The cutting of the Vans Deferens so sperm cannot travel to the prostate and out of the body. “Permenant” birth control. Quick Freeze

Key Point #5: A chemical released by a gland in one part of the body that affects another part of the body. Hormones
32
TESTOSTERONE: Responsible for the production of “male” characteristics Increased muscle mass Body hair Deepening of the voice Allows men to produce sperm Male Sex Hormones
