Carbohydrates Body’s most important source of energy. It can be utilized quickly. Humans must rely on plants to get carbs. If you eat too many carbohydrates and do not burn them, they can be converted into fat.

Types of Carbohydrates Simple Sugars: Glucose – in all cells, primary source of energy Fructose – found in fruits Galactose – milk Double Sugars: Lactose – dairy Sucrose – table sugar Maltose

Types of Carbohydrates Complex Sugars: Starch – potatoes and grains Cellulose – dietary fibre

Insulin Sugars are carried in the blood to cells. Insulin is a hormone made by your pancreas. It controls how much sugar is in the blood and how much should be stored. If you do not produce enough insulin, you cannot control your blood sugar levels. Could result in diabetes.
