What is a Survey? Survey – collecting information by asking a number of people the same question and recording their answers. For example, “What is your favorite candy?” I could then give you a couple of choices and record your responses. This is a survey.

Surveys Tally Marks – are the lines that you use to count your data. Look at the example below. How much do these tally marks represent?

Example of how to Create a Bar Graph First, conduct a survey and collect your data. For example, What is your favorite website? Your choices are, BrainBashers, Disney Channel, Moodle, or Fun Brain

Example of how to Create a Bar Graph Step 3 – Create your bar graph. Remember, you must include titles for both of your axis (y and x) and your bar graph.

Your Turn In groups of 4, you are going to conduct a survey. You will have to come up with a survey question, with at least 4 choices. You will then survey the class with a tally chart. Once you have collected your data, you will then create a bar graph using Microsoft Excel. Good Luck!
