Tantalus and Dione’s Children Niobe – Apollo and Artemis killed all of her 12 children after she bragged that she was better than their mother, Leto, because Leto only had 2 children. In addition, Niobe was turned to stone. Broteas – He was burned as a sacrifice on a pyre, because he was a hunterwho refused to honor Artemis. Pelops – Tantalus killed and served his son at a banquet to the gods in order to test the gods’omniscience (their ability to know all, see all). Luckily, they figured it out in time, except for Demeter who accidentally ate his shoulder, because she was in so much grief over Persephone that she didn’t notice. After Zeus killed Tantalus for his crime, he restored Pelops to life and Demeter gave him an ivory shoulder to make up for the one she had eaten.
