Q1: Is God Unfaithful To Israel? Paul’s Grief Over Jews Who Reject Christ – Vs. 1-5 The “Children of Promise” Are Not Simply The Biological Descendants: vs. 6 – For Example: Isaac’s Role, Instead of Ishmael (vs 7-9) – For Example: Jacob’s Role, Instead Esau (vs 10-13)

Q2: Is God Unfair In Dealing With Us? Is God’s Choice of Specific People For Specific Roles A Form of Partiality? (vs. 14) – No, God may bless anyone He selects to accomplish the plans He has designed. (15-16) – No, God may place people in select positions to accomplish the plans He has designed. (17-18) Is God’s Judgment of People Who Sin In These Positions Unjust? (vs. 19) – No, God can give man any variety of talents or positions & still evaluate our response. (20-21) – No, rather than be unjust, He is actually exceedingly patient. (22-24)

God Has Made A Way For All, Including Jews & Gentiles God Has Called Gentiles To Be His People Too. – Foretold In The O.T. (Vs. 25-29) Without the Mosaic Covenant, How Could Gentiles Ever Be Part of God’s Family? – The Gentiles pursued God by Faith, not Works. – Vs. 30-33

Special Concerns Do Verses 11-13 Teach Calvinism? No! – Jacob’s Role, not salvation, is under discussion. – “Esau I Hated” is written in Malachi 1:2, LONG after they are dead. It is a reflection of his life, just like Hebrews 12:16. Do Verses 15-18 Negate Free-Will? No! – How we respond to God’s mercy is up to us! Vs 16 – What “does not depend on man” is how much mercy is shown us in life’s circumstances.

Special Concerns What distinguishes a “vessel of mercy” from a “vessel of wrath” in verses 21-24? – Accepting The Invitation To Become Like Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:28-30) Has God Failed Either The Jews or Gentiles? – No! He has shown both to be in need of His mercy, and Has invited both to come to Him with Faith in Jesus Christ. Romans 11:28-32
