14. Apply the five tenets of CL to a common teamwork situation. Cooperative Learning (CL) tenets are provided in a handout (Page 2 of 14). Team Activity, 5 minutes. Select a common team situation such as a sports team, orchestra or a marching band. Write a few sentences about how each of the five tenets are met in this situation. Audience Discussion, 5 minutes.

15. Teaching Scenario Jigsaw Jigsaw Activity In your teaching scenario (Page 3 of 14), determine if the five tenets are satisfied. If not, describe why not. Review the assigned scenario description (individual), 2 minutes. Review scenario with your “symbol” group, 5 minutes. “Teach” the results back to your team, 8 minutes.

16. Your experiences with teamwork Discussion, 10 minutes Conclusions – Traditional courses do not address teamwork. – Teamwork is facilitated with the 5 CL tenets. – Most students are ill equipped to do teamwork. – They lack the needed interpersonal skills.
