2 HISTORY :beginnings Fall 2010 After the yearly Music Industry Conference, newly re-branded as evolution Music Conference, a group of students gathered to discuss the formation of a record label at LVC. Spring 2011 An independent study group consisting of Rachel Lightner ('12) Nick D'Angelo ('12), and Jackie Massey ('11) began to meet and discuss the possibilities of a label. An Arnold Grant was awarded to the group to finance the research. Hosted a presentation in Blair for the music department Fall 2011 Group additions/ transformations During evolution Music Conference '11 we discussed the label with industry professionals attending the conference

3 HISTORY :research Fall 2011 Group meetings every tuesday Analyzed the business models of existing college labels o AEEMP Records (Columbia College, Chicago) o Mad Dragon Records (Drexel University, Philadelphia o Gallatone Records (NYU, New York) Spring 2012 Hosted a dinner for select industry professionals at MMC Planned the Chicago research trip Planned the trip to the Cape May Music Conference

16 Yearly Cycle: RMR Spring Committee selects the bands to be on our record label. Of these bands we select one to do additional marketing/ A + R support. Begin recording. Summer Bands will continue to record / go on tour Fall Showcase our bands at RMC Winter Bands will record/ go on tour

18 Organizational Structure: RMP RMR evolution Music Publishing MBS 372 By taking the Music Business course MBS 372 "Cash, Copyright, Contracts" students can gain an understanding of music publishing and copyright (3 credits, spring semester)

19 Organizational Structure: RMP RMR evolution Music Publishing Archives Responsible for maintaining the archives of recorded student performances, as well as the masters for artists/bands on ev'd Up

20 Organizational Structure: RMP RMR evolution Music Publishing Licensing/ Pitching Responsible for licensing and placing written songs on student film/ tv projects at LVC and other institutions

21 Yearly Cycle: RMP Spring Introduced to new students taking MBS 372 "Cash Copyright, Contracts" Selected students will continue to work with publishing for RMG Newly acquired artists and songwriters will be signed for affiliations with major PRO's Summer Fall Winter Seek out opportunities to use songs in film, tv, and other mediums where royalties can be collected

22 Organizational Structure: RMC RMR evolution Music Conference Plans and hosts the annual evolution Music Conference at LVC Offered as a course MBS 179 "Music Business Colloquium" (1 credit, Fall Semester)

23 Yearly Cycle: RMC Spring, Summer, Winter Network and seek out industry professionals and alumni to attend the conference as panelists Fall Plan and organize the conference Host the conference the third weekend of November

24 Organizational Structure: RMB RMR evolution Music Booking In charge of booking shows for bands Organizing concerts and other live events Networking with local colleges and promoting bands through a college wide audience Reaching out to community to promote local music across Pennsylvania and beyond

25 Yearly Cycle: RMB Spring Get in contact with local colleges and venues Set up future dates for shows of bands on label Begin promoting shows Set up shows between local colleges and their respective bands to open a larger audience to all musical groups Summer Continue promoting shows Follow band(s) to shows to sell merchandise and network with others Fall Continue booking and promoting shows as well as shows coinciding with release dates Winter Review processes of previous year Plan for upcoming semester
