SALSUS cont… The survey also gives us measures of health and wellbeing, level of consumption of substances, leisure activities, experience of advice and support through schools etc etc Other similar surveys (e.g. Glasgow schools survey published January 2012) also give information on ethnicity, sexual health, use of services etc etc

Conclusions The Scottish Public Health Observatory Profiles provide the most comprehensive overview of health and wellbeing by CH(C)P and intermediate geographies to date Overall – many reassuring findings (e.g. rising life expectancy) But emerging challenges (e.g. alcohol misuse) Useful local information on children and young people in ScotPHO profiles and other sources (e.g. SALSUS, ISD datasets) But beware over interpretation
