APS ECONOMICS AND PERSONAL FINANCE: THE POWER TO CHOOSE Course Description: This course of study for students in grades 10-12 explores the general scope of economics and personal finance. Students explore the American enterprise system including such concepts as supply and demand, labor and industry, government fiscal policies, finance and investment, the role of the consumer, global trade and budgeting. Students learn about the impact of people’s choices on American and global economies.

REQUIREMENTS State mandated graduation requirement for Class of 2015 State Standards of Learning for EPF Substitute courses: AP Macro/Micro Economics and IB Economics Teachers: Social Studies, Business, or Consumer Science Course Options: Full year, face to face, on-line or blended

Requires student training for using on-line courses Requires teacher training for using on-line courses 16 units of study, 165 modules each 45-60 minutes long 167 days plus projects Must be graded and monitored by staff May be used in blended approach Must be downloaded onto Blackboard Includes multiple resources o Blogs, discussion boards and other internet applications o Lab projects o Games, simulations and animated graphic novel Complex content High readability requirements STATE EPF COURSE, ON-LINE, WEB-BASED
