Iredell County Planning Efforts 2030 Horizon Plan Adopted September 15, 2009 Long range plan with goals and strategies to deal with the growth in the County Land Development Code Effective July 1, 2011 Year-long effort by staff to incorporate recommendations from the 2030 Horizon Plan and combine the Countys Development Ordinances

Iredell County Planning Efforts 2030 Horizon Plan Where are we today, where do we want to be in the future, and how do we get there? Current conditions, goals and policies, guiding principles, specific recommendations. Urban Service Areas Logical, consistent, and sustainable growth patterns Incorporates existing plans of municipalities.

Iredell County Planning Efforts 2030 Horizon Plan Provide fiscally efficient governance and public services. Provide leadership to coordinate planning within the county. Coordinate development with the provision of infrastructure. Balance land use policy and regulation with private property rights.

Iredell County Planning Efforts Land Development Code – July 1, 2011 Also provides mechanisms to coordinate planning within the county. Provides guidance for the review of requests for the expansion of planning and zoning jurisdiction by municipalities within the county. Applies similar municipal-like development standards to properties in close proximity to the municipalities (Municipal Growth Overlay).

Coordinated Planning Efforts in the Cornelius Road Area Cornelius Road Small Area Plan Adopted in April 2009 by the Town of Mooresville. Iredell County Planning Staff was one of the stakeholders in the process. 2030 Horizon Plan Incorporated the future land use designations from the Towns plans. Town of Mooresville Planning staff served on the Technical Advisory Committee for the Plan.

Tax burden is the same whether a property is in the ETJ or Iredell County. Town taxes are ONLY levied if a parcel is annexed in to the Town of Mooresville. Town of Mooresville
