4 Our Acceleration Philosophy “Challenge without overwhelming” Accelerated Student Contract Shenendehowa provides accelerated programs not only to satisfy state mandates, but also to meet the needs of our diverse community of learners. Being an accelerated student means more than having a strong work ethic. These courses are designed for students who not only have a strong academic aptitude, but students who are driven to learn. It is not only more difficult work, but classes that move at a quicker pace and require inherent student motivation. Accelerated students are eager to participate and consistently provide high quality work.

11 When does a student take the Accelerated Math 8H class? Within the regular school day Most classes are mixed 7 th & 8 th graders 7 th grade students taking Math 8H will then automatically be enrolled in Algebra Honors as an 8 th grader.

12 Integers Solving Equations Angles Polynomials Percents Transformational Geometry Factoring Polynomials Functions Solving Inequalities Slope Constructions Indirect Measurement Math 8H Curriculum

13 History of Accelerated Algebra Honors Up until September 2007, one section of ninth grade math was taught separately in each building. 2007 – 2008approx. 90 students 2008 – 2009approx. 110 students 2009 – 2010116 students (currently includes 19 7 th graders and 97 8 th graders)
