2  Animal Farm is a metaphor for the Russian Revolution  A cranky farmer represents the Czar  A big pig represents Karl Marx  Animalism represents communism  Trotsky, Stalin, and the KGB all have their representatives

3  Animals work together to overthrow the czar  Animals work together so everybody has more food  More crop was produced.  Everybody was happy

4  The pigs were the smartest  The pigs start taking more than their share  The pigs become hypocrites

5  Commandments are supposed to create a beautiful society  Everybody following the commandments will be ‘better’  Commandments, in order to be commandments, require punishment if they are not followed

6  Pigs slept in beds  Pigs drank alcohol  Pigs wore clothes  Pigs learned to walk on two legs

7  Pigs sold goods for money  Pigs even sold the eggs from the chickens  Pigs bought whiskey

8  Pigs violated the commandment about killing  Pigs executed animals

9  Pigs trained dogs to be their secret police  Justice was swift
