EXPLORE Overview English (40 item, 30-minute) test measures conventions of standard written English and of rhetorical skills Mathematics (30-item, 30 minute) test emphasizes solving practical quantitative problems Reading (30-item, 30 minute) test measures reading comprehension as a product of referring and reasoning skills Science (28-item, 30 minute) test measures scientific reasoning skills

PLAN Your Skills – Side Two Content AreasTo improve your skills you can: Basic Operations Probability Determine the discount price of items on sale (for example, an item that normally const $10.00 is on sale for 13% off, so the same price of the item is $8.70) Calculate the score value you need on your next math test to raise your overall grade by a certain percent Predict the outcome of simple events (for example, the sum of two 6-sided fair number cubes when rolled)

Ideas for Progress Suggest learning experiences that a student from which a student might benefit to increase his/her achievement and achieve a higher score on the ACT Provide bridges between adjacent score ranges
