2 Lena Simonsen the PROMISE conference Prague 2004 The sone 4 project What we did  3 teachers attended a course by Signe Holm-Larsen. We then conveyed our new knowledge to our colleagues  We had a discussion in the staff – asking ourselves what we were good at and what are our challenges  All classes went through with one project or at least some elements of project work  We met other schools in the municipality also working with the method, and we exchanged experiences  We attended a spot course with Signe Holm-Larsen with focus on what was difficult

3 Lena Simonsen the PROMISE conference Prague 2004 Further work in team  Formulate a concise, concrete and measurable objective for the project.  Establish requirements and confines: –Time and space –Shall the group keep a logbook –Requirements to the product –Requirements to the presentation –What to emphasize in the evaluation –How to carry out the evaluation? Self-evaluation? Tutoring? Fill in forms? And so on..  Plan the motivation phase (book, film, acting and so on)  Decide how you want to implement brainstorming in the class before the teams/groups proceed with problem formulation, and subsequently the filling in of the planning document  Decide on how to combine the groups in the class  Organize and prepare potential/possible literature

How to help clarifying the central focus points and to make the formulation precise and solution oriented  How to get pupils from a descriptive to a more problem-solving approach to the assignment

7 Lena Simonsen the PROMISE conference Prague 2004 Problems encountered in working with the Project Method  How to formulate an approach to the problem, and avoid too much teacher guidance  How to get pupils from a descriptive to a more problem- solving approach to the assignment  How much is the teacher supposed to direct the pupils on the right track in accordance to the intentions and curriculum  How much shall we interfere?  How to create a feeling and mutual responsibility in the group, so one can avoid pupils whizzing around dodging their assignment?
