Newscast Review Project Mr. Hawthorne Western Civilization
2
What Are We Doing??? Your group will be assigned a time period from the French Revolution (a section from the book) Your group will become a news team (you will have anchors, special guests, & on-site reporters) who will discuss the highlights of your section. ◦ You want to pick out the most important topics/themes/people/ideas from your time period ◦ You will want to create PowerPoint backgrounds as a visual aid for your audience (go home & watch the news to see how they do it) ◦ You need to include a timeline of the key events of your section at the end of your broadcast
3
-You need to tie your topic to the “Unit Big Question” ◦ What are the legacies of the Europeans' monarchial systems and their anti-monarchial revolutions? This is the review for the class, so everyone is counting on your group to be prepared and do a complete job. You must be on task and include all the important topics from your section. You will have one class period to work on the project (Wednesday), the rest must be completed outside of class for Friday.’ ◦ Periods 4 & 6 will meet in the C22 Computer Lab on Wednesday ◦ Period 5 will meet in Room C8 (Laptop Classroom) You must have five members in your group

How Will We Be Graded? Your group will be assessed on how well you use your class time & were you on task the whole time. Did you cover all the material in the reading? Were your summaries concise (don’t re-tell the entire section)? Was your presentation rehearsed? Did the class learn from your presentation? Did you follow all the directions (i.e. timeline of key events & did you tie it into the Big Question)? I will provide you with a rubric on Wednesday.
