Building on a rich history dating back to 1980, the Duke University Talent Identification Program is dedicated to being a national leader in identifying academically talented students and providing innovative programs to support the development of their optimal educational potential. Programs for students, families, and educators will be of such excellence that they will become models for the education of academically talented students worldwide.

The first talent search (in 1981) included a little over 8,700 participants. This number increased to over 71,000 in 2011.

Duke TIP held its first summer residential program for verbally and mathematically talented youth in 1981 for a total of 151 students. The total combined enrollment for the entire Duke residential program was nearly 3,700 students in 2011.

Duke TIP Summer Studies Programs are superb academic opportunities and dynamic residential and social experiences for seventh through tenth graders. These three-week sessions are intense and demanding; students are challenged to think critically about themselves and their world.

There are 12 summer program sites across 7 states and there are 4 international locations Summer Programs prioritizes both academic and social development

The original site of the Summer Study Program 550 students over the course of 2 terms 5 administrators 23 residential staff members 30 instructional staff members

I was 1 of the 5 administrators and I was fully responsible for the logistical operation of camp My main responsibilities were: Creating airport arrival/departure day schedules for 200 students Discussing and collaborating ways to deal with staff and student concerns.
