STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION GOALS Future Ready Students for the 21 st Century Goal 1 – North Carolina public schools will produce globally competitive students. Goal 2 – North Carolina public schools will be led by 21 st Century professionals. Goal 3 – North Carolina Public School students will be healthy and responsible. Goal 4 – Leadership will guide innovation in North Carolina public schools. Goal 5 – North Carolina public schools will be governed and supported by 21 st Century systems.

DISTRICT GOAL 1 District Goal 1: To increase by 2% the number of students in grades K-2 reading at proficiency so that students will read proficiently by the End of the Year as measured by assessment data. Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina public schools will produce globally competitive students

DISTRICT GOAL 2 District Goal 2: To increase by 2% the number of 3- 5 grade students at or above proficiency level status by the end of the 2014-2015 school year as measured by EOG data in reading and math. Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina public schools will produce globally competitive students

DISTRICT GOAL 3 District Goal 3: To increase by 2% the number of 6- 8 grade students at or above proficiency level status by the end of the 2014-2015 school year as measured by EOG data Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina public schools will produce globally competitive students

DISTRICT GOAL 4 To increase by 2% the number of 8 th grade students scoring at or above College and Career Ready levels by the end of the 2014-2015 school year as measured by the EXPLORE exam Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina public schools will produce globally competitive students

DISTRICT GOAL 5 District Goal 5: To increase by 2% the number of 10th grade students scoring at or above College and Career Ready levels by the end of the 2014- 2015 school year as measured by the PLAN exam (PLAN to be given October 23, 2014) Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina public schools will produce globally competitive students

DISTRICT GOAL 6 District Goal 6: To increase by 2% the number of 11th grade students scoring at or above College and Career Ready levels by the end of the 2014- 2015 school year as measured by the ACT exam Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina public schools will produce globally competitive students

DISTRICT GOAL 7 District Goal 7: To increase by 2% the number of 12 th grade students at or above silver level status by the end of the 2014-2015 school year as measured by the Work Keys exam Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina public schools will produce globally competitive students

DISTRICT GOAL 8 To increase by 2% the number of 9-12 grade students at or above proficiency level status by the end of the 2014-2015 school year as measured by EOC and CTE post-assessment data. Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina public schools will produce globally competitive students

DISTRICT GOAL 9 District Goal 9: To increase by 2% the number of 9- 12 grade students at or above proficiency level status by the end of the 2014-2015 school year as measured by Advance Placement (AP) data Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina public schools will produce globally competitive students

DISTRICT GOAL 10 District Goal 10: To develop and implement Honors Curriculum Guides for approved courses so that students and teachers will be evaluated and assessed by February 28, 2015 as measured by testing data (Note: CCS has been selected for Comprehensive Honors Audit by NCDPI Spring 2015) Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina public schools will be led by 21st Century professionals.

DISTRICT GOAL 11 District Goal 11: To identify staff which directly serve Academically Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Students so that professional development will differentiate instruction to meet the needs of these students by the end of 2014-2015 school year as measured by student growth. Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina public schools will be led by 21st Century professionals.

DISTRICT GOAL 12 District Goal 12: To increase the number of peer observations by 5% so that teachers will be provided feedback by multiple observers as measured by North Carolina Educator and Evaluation System (NCEES Standard 1 and 4). Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina public schools will be led by 21st Century professionals.

DISTRICT GOAL 13 District Goal 13: To increase graduation rate by.5% so that 2011-2012 cohort will graduate by end on 2015 school year as measured by reporting data Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina Public School students will be healthy and responsible.

DISTRICT GOAL 14 District Goal 14: To decrease the number of major discipline incidents by 10% as measured by discipline data Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina Public School students will be healthy and responsible.

DISTRICT GOAL 15 To decrease the percentage of students defined as being bullied during the 2014-2015 school year by 5% as identified by Bullying Survey Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina Public School students will be healthy and responsible.

DISTRICT GOAL 16 District Goal 16: To inform parents of all state initiatives and opportunities including but not limited to the NC K-3 Literacy Model, NC College and Career Ready, Credit by Demonstrated Mastery, AIG Opportunities including Governors School, during the 2014-2015 school year so that stakeholders will be informed of initiatives Supports SBE Goal: Leadership will guide innovation in North Carolina public schools.

DISTRICT GOAL 17 District Goal 17: To increase number of volunteers and volunteer hours and community service by 2% during 2014-2015 school year so that stakeholders will be vested in district success. Supports SBE Goal: Leadership will guide innovation in North Carolina public schools.

DISTRICT GOAL 18 District Goal 18: To increase cost avoidance in energy efficiency by 2% by June 30, 2014 as measured by energy management data. Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina public schools will be governed and supported by 21st Century systems.

DISTRICT GOAL 19 District Goal 19: To increase transportation efficiency by.5% by June 30, 2015 as measured by TIMS data. Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina public schools will be governed and supported by 21st Century systems.

DISTRICT GOAL 20 District Goal 20: Reduce Maintenance miles traveled by 20,000 miles per year Supports SBE Goal: North Carolina public schools will be governed and supported by 21st Century systems
