FAQ’s How many people can I expect to be in my session? Since NSTA does not require participants to register for sessions, it is difficult to gauge an average number. Based on previous conferences, presenters could expect an average of 35-40 participants; however, please be prepared if numbers increase. How long will each workshop last? Sessions are scheduled for 60 minutes. What technology will be available to presenters? Teacher sessions are scheduled in rooms with a LCD projector and a screen. Will each physical space have internet access? Each room will not have internet access; if your session requires the use of the internet, please email conferences@nsta.org.conferences@nsta.org Limited space is available, so please submit an email IMMEDIATELY! 12
13
FAQ’s If I need materials shipped, then should I ship the materials to my hotel or to the convention center? It is best to have materials shipped to your hotel; however, contact the hotel to find out information about receiving and handling expenses. Will I need to prepare an evaluation for my session? NSTA will provide an online evaluation for participants to complete. Will presenters have access to a printer or copier? A printer or copier will not be available for presenters. NSTA encourages presenters to think “green” and provide websites, wikispaces, or blogs to access workshop materials. If presenters want to provide handouts, then they are encouraged to come prepared with the necessary copies. NSTA will not reimburse for copies. 13
14
FAQ’s How much time will be available for presenters to set-up before the session begins? There is a fifteen minute time span between each session. If another presenter is using the room prior to your session and you have a lot of materials, please note that the culture of the conferences have been to ask participants to help set-up necessary materials. Participants are always willing to provide an extra hand if needed! Should I expect participants from other strand areas to attend my session? Participants will be given information to help them navigate their professional needs during the forum. Since the forum is open to PreK-12 educators, presenters should prepare accordingly. 14
