History of Air Pollution Back in the middle age the usage of coal caused Air pollution in London and spread fast Documentation of poor urban air problems have gone back to the 16 th century In 1940 Los Angeles, California became one of the first city in the U.S to experience sever air pollution problem called gas attacks. LA location makes it susceptible to accumulation of auto exhaust and emissions from local petroleum refineries

“Air pollution is caused by a wide variety of things. The earth is great at cleaning the air on its own. However, air pollution has grown so much, the earth can no longer clean all of it. This is starting to have adverse effects on the environment such as causing acid rain, smog and a wide variety of health problems.” - Nicole Lbamarco

problem Improvement Combustion Engine Exhaust Cars, trucks, jet airplanes and other combustion engine vehicles cause air pollution. The exhaust from these contains carbon monoxide, nitrous oxide and gaseous oxide. which creates smog. Which causes respiratory health problems and holes in the ozone layer. A way to stop this type of air pollution is to use cars that use none or almost no gasoline, like electric cars.

problem Improvement Buildings Factories, office building, homes, and power- generating stations burn fossil fuels, which cause air pollution. The burning of oil and coal, also contributes to smog. This air pollution destroys plants, damages buildings and creates oxidation on iron. A way to slow down this type of air pollution buildings can switch to solar energy to heat there buildings.

problem Improvement Sick building syndrome(SBS) This happens when there is not enough ventilation to disburse the toxic fumes from new carpet, paint and/or cleaning chemicals that are used indoors. Mold can also cause SBS. companies can put more ventilation systems in there buildings. Or use fans to circulate the fumes so the do not settle and not cause sickness
