The New CPR
2
According to American Heart Association statistics, less than a third of the people who experience cardiac arrest at home, work or school get the assistance that they need. Have you ever been in an emergency situation and received help from another? Whether it be at school or at home, would you like to be able help others in an emergency situation?

Knowing When to Perform Hands-Only CPR The American Heart Association in an Advisory Statement of March, 2008 recommends hands-only CPR in the following circumstances: If a bystander, not trained in standard CPR, sees an adult suddenly collapse then he or she should call 911 and provide chest compressions by pushing hard and fast in the center of the chest. Interruptions should be kept to a minimum until trained rescuers arrive. For bystanders previously trained in standard CPR, hand-only CPR may be performed if the bystander is not confident or is unwilling to perform mouth-to- mouth ventilation. Fill in the blanks below. 1.A bystander who is familiar with CPR, but not confident or unwilling to perform _______________________ should perform hands-only CPR. 2. A bystander who witnesses an adult collapse, but is not trained in CPR should perform _________________________.

You can sign up to take a CPR course by contacting: 1.the American Heart Association, 2) the American Red Cross, or 3) your local fire department. The main purpose of CPR is to PROVIDE and CIRCULATE life-maintaining OXYGEN. Although CPR does require a basic understanding, it is not a difficult skill to master. While CPR is still beneficial even if it is done imperfectly, you can maximize your chances of helping someone by signing up for a CPR Training Course.
