www.csps.ch Assessment Project, Copenhagen, March 2008 4 Assessment, SEN and funding Until December 31st 2007 SEN provision paid by an insurance (assurance invalidité) 50% and by the cantons and cities 50% Criteria for the assessment leading to the decision of funding: medical criteria (IQ, degree of blindness, deafness, etc.) Insurance lead to the development of many special schools

www.csps.ch Assessment Project, Copenhagen, March 2008 5 Assessment, SEN and funding January 2008 – December 2010 Since January 2008, insurance doesn’t pay anymore for SEN provision. 26 cantons and the cities take over a 100% of the bill During 3 transitional years, cantons still can use the criteria of the former insurance
