Soil pH & Vegetation By Group Boonellew (Eric Nelson, Spencer Booth, and Brian Lewellen)
2
How does the pH level of soil affect the vegetation of Coal Creek? This is the question that our group is exploring for our Wake Robin Project. Soil pH is defined as the acidic level or quality of soil. The pH of soil is very important to vegetation because it controls and determines the nutrients that are available in the soil.
3
Soil Nutrients FWe are currently studying the different types of nutrients and their relative correlation to pH levels, as shown on the next slide. We will also study the relationship between the different pH levels of the soil at Coal Creek, and the types of plants and trees that have the ability to grow in those specific pH levels.
4
The Correlation of Soil pH Levels and Nutrients
5
Checking pH Levels of Soil FWe will collect soil from various regions of Wake Robin that have different types of vegetation. We will then be able to make correlations between the pH levels of the regions the type of vegetation which grows there.
