Are there many birds in the trees and flowers in the parks in winter? 9. Do children play hockey, skate, ski and toboggan in winter?

3. Winter. This is the season When mornings are dark, And birds do not sing In the forests and park. This is the season When children ski And Father Frost brings The New Year Tree!

4. There are four seasons in the year. Winter is the first season of the year. December, January and February are the winter months. December and January are long months. They have got thirty one days. February is a very short month. It has got twenty eight or twenty nine days.

5. In winter it is very cold. The weather is frosty. The trees, the streets and the houses are white with snow. In winter there are no birds in the trees and there are no flowers in the parks.

6. Winter holidays are shorter than summer ones. They begin at the end of December and last about two weeks. It is so nice to have a rest from school.

7. During winter holidays we celebrate the New Year’s Eve and Christmas. There are New Year parties for children at schools and theatres. Cinemas show children films and cartoons.

8. It is usually very cold in winter, but frost and snow can’t keep children indoors. It’s so great to go skiing down a hill. Boys like to play hockey on the ice. Many children go to the skating-rinks to skate. Small children play snowballs and make snowmen, or ride on the sledges happily.

9. When the weather is bad, I stay at home and watch TV. There is always something interesting on during winter holidays. Sometimes my friends come to see me and we play computer games or listen to music. There is also more time for reading, drawing, making model planes and other hobbies. Holidays pass quickly and soon it’s time to go to school again.

10. I like winter much better with its frost and snow. 2. But I should say winter is not very cold in our place without awful snowstorms and deep snowdrifts, it is becoming milder due to the greenhouse effect. 3. Although the average temperature is -5 degrees, it sometimes freezes up to -20 degrees.
