This is a set of mugs made by an artist in Ohio. This set gives you an idea of how to make your set your own. Use designs and icons that you can relate to make the process more fun!
4
Here is another example of personalized mugs. This artist wheel threw the form of these mugs and added the other little details later.
5
Tea sets are always an option. This set is a simple wheel thrown set with slip and glaze decoration. The fine lines are just enough detail to make this set interesting.
6
With this set, the potter used texture as the detail that connected all the pieces together. Notice how they all have the same wave pattern…
7
Here is a set of various different forms that are all tied together through surface decoration. This is a good technique for those of you who are not confident wheel throwers.
8
Here is a set of canisters. This artist made the same form in various sizes and used colored slip and glaze to connect the forms through decoration.
9
Again, this set is tied together by both form, pattern, and color. This would be considered a three piece set as it includes the platter that the tea pots sit in.
10
As you can see here, this artist altered the forms after they came off the wheel. The pots forms are not the same but they are all tied together by color and texture.
11
This artist created organic shapes by altering these forms. As you can see, these spouts and lids have varying differences but they are very much a set.
12
This wheel thrower used a rib to create these flat surfaces around the round forms. She also altered the lip of the pourer to change the form from a vase into a pitcher.
13
The set you see here has a landscape approach to surface decoration. The wheel thrower applied glaze of various colors to blend together in a landscape-esque design.
