1. Market Position Statement August 2011 first full MPS and Demand Analysis Online only, as pdf in case you need to print it out, divided into short sections for ease of use “sets out our current understanding of social care need, service patterns and other responses across the county…published online to allow us to regularly update and refine it”

2. Updating the MPS during 2012 Online document so online updates only. Lots going on but we need to keep it simple and understandable – and sustainable. “It will be revised whenever major changes occur and at significant points in the commissioning timetable”. We will only publish updates when enough developments have taken place.

3. Provisional 2012 updates January 2012 – progress on 12 issues listed in Commissioning Timetable. Interim review of data/stats/tables by Management Information in case any instant updates can be made. April 2012 review – what’s new for the new financial year August 2012 – have there been enough changes to justify a whole new MPS in September?

4. ‘Look out for’ statements As well as the Commissioning Timetable we have highlighted 12 ‘Look Out For’ statements, so we need to tell readers what’s happened. e.g. “In relation to intermediate care we are looking at the Torbay model of using the independent sector for spot purchase of bed- based intermediate care, where this might be needed.”

5. Provider engagement on MPS updates We used the PEN Strategic Commissioning & Procurement subgroup when developing the current MPS, do we want the same group to look at updates or a new group? There has been very little provider feedback on the MPS, but the anecdotal feedback has been that you have welcomed the document, is that right?

6. Children’s MPS We want to publish a Children’s Social Care MPS next year too. The initial document will be a short one like last year’s Interim MPS, but the aim is, of course, for a People’s social care MPS…

7. And finally… Remember that there’s a direct link to the MPS: www.devon.gov.uk/market-position-statement And there is an MPS emailbox for feedback, comments & suggestions: mps@devon.gov.uk
