Louis Brandeis ●Graduated Harvard Law School at the top of his class at the age of 20 ●Appointed to the Supreme Court by Woodrow Wilson in 1916 ○ Before this he was a private lawyer ●Was a lawyer for the people ●Helped develop a “right to privacy” ●Brandeis Brief

Why Brandeis was so important ●Helped develop a “right to privacy”, which meant that people had the right to be left alone if they wanted to. ○ Had to do with all the new technology (ex: photography) ●Wrote the Brandeis Brief, which said that it was important to take into account the facts of the case and not just rely on previous rulings. ○ This was the first time in American history that somebody thought rulings should be determined like this. It was because of the Muller v. Oregon case
