Fire Prevention – Appliances, Cords & Outlets Electrical Appliances – Are they in good condition? Do they have frayed wires? Outlets in Kitchens & Bathrooms – Do they have GFCI or AFCI plugs? Lamps & night-lights shouldn’t touch bedding, drapes, or other fabrics Replace or fix appliances that spark, smell unusual or overheat

Fire Prevention – Plugs & Extension Cords Don’t overload plugs Don’t link more than 3 strands of Christmas lights together Use UL tested heavy duty extension cords with a 3- prong plug Don’t run cords under carpets or rugs Use light bulbs with the recommended wattage in light fixtures and lamps
